Making Money Online

Submitted by: Mark Walters

Can you make a living as a mystery shopper? Yes. There are thousands of people who make their living as mystery shoppers. Unfortunately, if you sign up with one of the business opportunities online, you will just get a few pages of information on how you can apply, and where you apply. These programs rarely teach a step-by-step program that will get you hired by a marketing company, or large retail, restaurant, or other customer service oriented business.

There are a lot of people who want to make money, but they don’t actually want to invest 60 hours a week establishing a small business. They spend $50 hoping to buy the information needed to make money. What they get is a list of companies that pay home assemblers that may, or may not, be years out of date.

Other scams like this are the ‘taking a survey’ schemes. The important thing to remember is that every one of these opportunities is based on something that works. Many people contact local marketing companies, and take surveys. They can be paid from $20 - $200 an hour to be part of a marketing group.

This is why many people are ‘sold’ on the idea of surveys. What they don’t realize is that there is a right way and a wrong way to get into surveys. The wrong way is to answer an email and pay $100 for what looks to be a job, and turns out to be a list of marketing companies in the US, UK or Canada.

It is possible to make money, but you need advanced ‘form filling’ software that will answer a lot of repetitive questions. They will need contact lists, and a spread sheet which can connect them with the survey websites.

Quick and Easy Money

Affiliate programs are another area that offer to pay people big money. At one time people use to build a blog or website and hope that Google would pay them big money. For millions, this never happened. Not because Google’s program was a scam, but because people never took the time to learn how to play the game by Google’s rules.

The first step to finding the right money making opportunity is to make a list of your skills. Almost everyone has some skills, whether with current music, gaming, family, budgeting, stay at home parenting, art, something that they can use to make money. Out there, somewhere in cyberspace, is a way that you can use your skills to make money.

Self-Confidence

Trust yourself. Did you know that you can be a mortgage broker with less than 4 months of training? A life coach can make $50 000 a year part time, with less than $5 000 worth of courses that can be taken online.

Too often, people short-sell themselves, they aim for the lowest common denominator. Data entry sounds easy, so they sign up and pay $50 for a scheme that they could have found for free – and a program that doesn’t work.

Be confident. There is a real making money opportunity for you, as long as you do not short-sell yourself. Try something bold. Keep looking until you find a website that doesn’t try to hook you into surveys or data entry. Look for websites and groups that aim higher, talk about investing and property management, being a life coach or councilor, helping people escape their debts, or publishing music for musicians.

You can do all these. You can find places that will teach you the basics, free. The resources needed to succeed, and the knowledge may cost money. However, the cost of buying a book on investing, or coaching, is $20 - $100, but can save three or four weeks of researching and piecing together the information needed to succeed.

Success is 50% ambition and 50% time management, remember this when determining whether to spend money for resources and education.
