Making Your Bathroom Attractive And Easy To Clean

Submitted by: Gabriel Adams

It is the dream of every home owner to have an attractive and easy to clean home. What more can you ask for than a great looking home that doesn't take much work to keep it looking nice?

The two rooms easiest to mess up are the kitchen and the bathrooms. Those two, incidentally, are also two rooms that need to be clean and hygienic for a healthy family. A clean bathroom is more often than not an attractive one too. There are a few things you can keep in mind while designing a bathroom so it is practical, attractive and easy to clean as well.

The first thing to consider while remolding your bathroom is to plan according to your space. While it is a great idea to look at remodeling magazines before you decide on a design, unless you are remodeling by adding space to your bathroom, you already know the boundaries. Picking a design that is not applicable for the space available in your bathroom is a very common pitfall. Put a big bathroom’s fixtures in a small one and you will get a bathroom that is ideal for accidents, hard to clean and suffocatingly cramped.

The choice of shower can help assist the look of your bathroom as well. Fiberglass shower units are less expensive and easy to clean but ceramic tiles look great. They lend a very sophisticated affect to your bathroom. If you are looking for longevity, tiles installed properly can give you the classic touch as well as the desired long life along with being easy to clean.

Lighting and color combinations are an important part of planning an attractive and easy to clean bathroom. Small bathrooms with dim lights and dark tiles are never going to look clean. While good lighting is important, it is always best to choose light, pastel colors for tiles in bathrooms. Light colors are easier to clean than black and other dark colors; they do not show off dirt spots like dark colors do. Apart from tiles, high gloss paints are easy to clean as well.

Always remember that you can not do a professional's job. You can plan well if you spend enough time on it, you can choose the best fixtures for your bathroom and great tiles as well, but when it comes to installation of the said items, it is often best to hire a professional. When you get the urge to utter those dreaded words, ‘I will do it myself’, remember the hardest thing to do once you are done with the remodeling is to fix the leakages. The mess leakages make is usually the hardest to clean as well, which is a nuisance enough to make you hate your very attractive bathroom.

Finally, an important thing to remember is that classic wins over trendy nine times out of ten. Trendy fixtures can look good for a while but the time tested classic clean looking fixtures stay fresh longer and give a sophisticated look to your bathrooms. For those that want to add visually to their bathrooms, rugs, candles and accessories are always an added plus that liven it up.
