Spirituality Information - Journey In The Fields Of Forever ( Part 20 )

Submitted by: John Harricharan

I sat there in a state of blessed bewilderment as they landed, converging all around me. Some alighted on the branches of the mango tree and others landed next to me on the ground. Most were tropical birds although some were species I had never seen. There were kiskadees and blue sackis, red-billed toucans and spur wings, blue gauldings and scarlet ibis. The strangest part of this incredible scene was that each bird carried a tiny book in its beak. The books seemed to be miniature replicas of the one that I had opened, which now lay beside me.

As if on cue, each bird grabbed its book in one foot, opened it with its beak and started to sing in its own peculiar way. Melodies streamed into the early morning air and for a moment, it was like being surrounded by an enormous, well conducted symphony orchestra. It was like listening to celestial music of such beauty and magnitude that to this very day, I’ve never heard anything so sublime.

Then the singing stopped and each bird brought his little book, placed it in a pile next to my big book and flew off. And thus the dream ended. I awoke immediately and remained awake for the rest of the night enjoying countless replays of my dream. There was a feeling of great peace and joy, a fantastic feeling that comes only on a handful of occasions during a lifetime.

Throughout the years, I’ve told a number of people about this dream and most times, they look at me, shake their heads and smile while muttering something incoherent. Yet, it’s the only dream I’ve remembered so precisely from childhood — the birds, their books, their brilliant colors and the music. Every once in a while, I’d still wonder what message was hidden in that strange language and would reflect on its meaning, if indeed there was any meaning.
