Spirituality Information - Journey In The Fields Of Forever ( Part 46 )

Submitted by: John Harricharan

After a brief pause, I looked up at Marla and asked “have you ever had a serious relationship, a significant other? Or do you, Gideon and others like you have no need for intimate relationships? Tell me, do you love as we do?”

At first she giggled, but her efforts to remain straight- faced resulted in a coughing fit. Rather than showing concern, Gideon broke into hysterical laughter. Marla joined until tears were streaming down both their faces.

Gasping for breath Gideon exclaimed, “Tell him, Marla, tell him about the time you gave up your job for the stock- broker in the Big City. Or, how about the time you almost ran away with the wandering minstrel.”

“No, no,” she protested,“you tell us about the peasant’s daughter who lived by the banks of the Yangtze Kiang. Tell us how you wanted to forsake lifetimes of learning just to be her love? Or the Greek princess you met on that cruise in the South China seas. Remember, Gideon? You wanted to take a leave of absence. It took you quite a while to get over that one.”

“What! You have to deal with this stuff, too? I thought you were well beyond such mortal emotions. I can’t imagine Marla settling down, raising a family and embracing domestic life. And Gideon, ”I continued in mock horror, “I certainly can’t picture you attending little league games or dance recitals.”

“We’re really not all that different from you, John,” he replied, “we’re affected by the same emotions as you are. We are as human as you are and as divine as you are, for we all came from the same source. We are all created in the Image of the Infinite. We are what you are becoming.”

“The difference,” added Marla,“is that we have learned how to manage our emotions instead of letting them control us. Oh yes, every once in a while we get off track, but who doesn’t? Also we’re more prone to seek the guidance which is always there — to ask for help when we’re confused. You can do the same. Ask, seek, knock. There is help available all the time. Plug in to the source. You should have seen Gideon when he wanted to marry the Greek princess. He was prepared to leave G & M Enterprises, give up all his benefits for the love of a woman.”
