If you are suffering from Halitosis and you aren’t sure what you can do about it, you should know there is a lot of mystery that goes along with halitosis. Knowing exactly what you are dealing with is the best way you can take control of the situation and figure out a way for it not to be a part of your life any more.

Causes Are Simple

The first thing that you have to be aware of when it comes to dealing with halitosis is the causes are rather simple.

There are only three main causes of halitosis:

1)rotting or decaying food in your mouth
2)infection
3)dry mouth

These three things will cause embarrassing halitosis. They all work in similar ways. Each of these situations in your mouth causes bacteria to grow. This bacterium thrives in your mouth and ends up being the source of your halitosis.

If you are suffering from halitosis and you don’t know what to do about it, don’t worry! The first thing you have to do is figure out which of the three causes you have and discover why your bacteria is forming. You will most likely find that if you have chronic halitosis, it is not the result of rotting food. This means that it is either an infection or dry mouth that is causing your chronic bad breath.

There are several things that might cause each of these to happen. If you have an infection it can be one of many things, including:

•abscesses
•gum disease
•impacted teeth

These three cases cause bacteria to grow in your mouth, which causes the halitosis to occur. The other major cause of chronic halitosis is dry mouth, which is caused by several things.

The causes of dry mouth can be:

•speaking excessively
•changing your diet or exercise routine
•using a prescription medication
•consuming alcohol or tobacco
•too much caffeine

When you have one or more of these situations, you may find that the bacterium is more likely to grow, leading to increased halitosis.

If you want to help your chronic halitosis, the best thing you can do is figure out why you are having it in the first place. You should explore by yourself and with your dentist to find out what’s really going on in your mouth. Once you have discovered the source of your bad breath, you will be able to take steps to take care of it. The best way to make sure you can rid yourself of halitosis is to also make sure that your mouth is always clean and healthy. Remember that the best way to keep your mouth clean and healthy is to brush regularly and be observant of what you are putting into your mouth. Using natural health care products without alcohol (like most mouthwashes contain) are the most appropriate products for your mouth!
