The Afterburn Effect -- The Best Way To Burn Fat Fast

Submitted by: Brad Howard

Cardiovascular exercise forms the backbone of many fat loss programs. However, it’s generally tough to burn fat fast with most types of cardiovascular exercise due to the lack of “afterburn” effect.

If you don’t know what the afterburn effect is… it’s the amount of time that your metabolism stays at a high rate directly after you exercise.

Think of the afterburn effect like you would compound interest at the bank… after your done… the fat burning effects keep on coming.

Now, most types of cardio really don’t allow you to tap into this compound fat burning effect… so you have to work that much harder to achieve your goals (not to mention possibly spinning your wheels in the process).

In fact, contrary to popular belief, long term, slow, steady state cardio can actually shrink the heart and lungs.

These types of activities never really tax the body and cause it to improve. They really only convince the body that you are in a "famine" mode and are migrating to another area for food.

If you really want to burn fat fast, have a look at interval training and full body workouts.

You see, if you tax your body at a heavy enough pace such that it has to repair itself heavily... heavily enough to increase the metabolism for hours on end... your body will naturally create an afterburn.

Think of it as compound interest for fat loss.

Most people only worry about the total number of calories burned during exercise. However, this only accounts for maybe a small amount of the total calories burned for the day.

With interval training, you can expect to create this afterburn effect easily and therefore, burn more calories throughout the day.

If you're like me, you really don't want to work out for hours and hours on end to achieve minimal results. Give interval training a try and watch your results skyrocket.
