I was feeling pretty sore the other day and on the recommendation of my friend, I ended up looking into the services of her chiropractor. Diane introduced me to Gavin, who was just a few years older than me and has an impressive amount of credentials on his wall. We got a lot of my problems taken care of that session, but we agreed that I would come back later for a second check-up and consultation as well. When I returned, I definitely had a few questions for Gavin. “So I noticed that your office is on Facebook,” I said as he looked over my charts. “Hmm.” “And that your business has a MySpace page, and a Twitter account.” “Yes?” “So why is that? I mean, it's not like people can get the help they need from a chiropractor online...” That shows you how much I didn't know, and while Gavin was getting all sorts of interesting aches and pains out of my body, he told me that there is nothing that can compare to social networking. Gavin turned out to be one of the most popular and busy chiropractors in the area, and to a large extent, it is due to the efforts that he puts towards social marketing. “It never hurts to put yourself out there,” Gavin told me. “When people look for anything anymore, they end up looking online first, and chances are, they might never even go to a search engine.” When I thought about it, I realized that he was right. Diane, our mutual friend, was one of the friends that I had made off of Facebook, and when I was having troubles with my back and my flanks, she had popped up to let me know about Gavin and where he could be found. It was a win-win situation for both me and Gavin, he had a new and faithful client and I could get a personal recommendation right away, without needing to go through pages and pages of people that I wasn't sure I was interested in dealing with. The truth of the matter is that there is a lot that you can do to make sure that you aren't forgotten when it comes to getting online, and social networking is one of the best things that you can try. You'll find that people talk, and they network, and if you can show them that you are there, they will often find that they are able to do all of the work themselves. When you are in a situation where you want to think about how to get your name out there, you need to make sure that you are in a good place to really tap into what people are thinking and how the communicate. “It just seemed like the next logical step,” Gavin said, showing me out. “I already had personal pages, and I've met lots of local people that way, so I figured that my business could do the same thing.” If you are a chiropractor who is looking for new business, take a look and see what network marketing can do for you!
