Which Is The Best Home Teeth Whitening System

Submitted by: JD Foster

Home teeth whitening is less costly than having the treatment done in a dental clinic. A wide range of do-it-yourself home kits is available over the counter for those who wish to whiten teeth on a budget. You can buy gels, strips, and whitening agents that are available from your dentist and from drugstores and grocery outlets everywhere.

If your teeth are not too badly stained, you should consider using home teeth whitening systems. Not only do you save hundreds of dollars, it is hassle free since you don’t have to make a dental appointment or make your way to the dental clinic. You have the convenience of doing the teeth whitening procedure in the comfort of your home on your own time.

Products such as whitening gels in dental trays are worn on teeth for the bleaching agent to stimulate a chemical reaction to whiten teeth. Teeth whitening gels contain gentle chemical agents that help remove surface stains from your teeth gradually. However, do not expect these gels to achieve the shade of white that professional laser teeth whitening at a dental clinic can achieve.

Whitening strips are less messy since there is no gel to apply. The thin film strips are coated with hydrogen peroxide which whiten teeth. However, because of the uneven surface of teeth, whitening strips do not adequately cover in between teeth and near gum lines. Plus, they cannot be used on the back of teeth which can result in see through when the front of teeth is whitened.

A convenient form of teeth whitening on the go is the use of teeth whitening pens or sprays. These reach into teeth crevices easily as they are in the form of syringes or come with a brush applicator. Being small, the amount of whitening gel in the pen is insufficient and multiple purchases are required for any results to show.

As with almost any other ailment, there are home made remedies for teeth whitening as well. If your teeth stains are faint, perhaps you can consider using a home formula to whiten teeth. It may prove to be effective yet at almost zero cost.

A home teeth whitening formula consists of using readily available household items. Mix three teaspoons of hydrogen peroxide and two teaspoons of baking soda. Add a dollop of toothpaste and mix everything into a paste with the consistency of toothpaste.

You can add more baking soda if the mixture is too watery. Apply onto teeth with a toothbrush and leave it on for at least 2 minutes before rinsing off.

If you are thinking of using teeth whitening toothpaste, they are known to be ineffective and do nothing more than clean teeth surface. There is no chemical reaction in toothpaste to whiten teeth. The yellow discoloration cannot be removed by home teeth whitening methods.

Compared to professional teeth whitening, home teeth whitening takes a much longer time and more repeat treatments for results to show. Home teeth whitening are useless to remove stubborn stains.
